ART 414 Advanced Sculpture 2
This course is designed for the creation of sculpture in a variety of materials. Design principles, aesthetic considerations and techniques of working are presented to and applied by students throughout the semester. As an upper level sculpture class, students will begin to direct their studies into the ideas and materials most appropriate for their emerging sculptural voices. Advanced students will complete their portfolios.
Course Objectives
A primary concern is exploration of the visual communication of thoughts, opinions, desires and beliefs at various levels of understanding from the artist to the viewer. Heightening awareness of design principles and refining aesthetic values through sculpture created by the student is also of primary importance. Interaction with peers and professionals will add to this process. Physical experimentation during project work will increase creative problem solving skills. Idea development will mature. Knowledge of materials and manual dexterity with tools will continue to increase. A portfolio of work will emerge.
