The Department of Art at Bradley offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in studio art and art history. The department also coordinates cultural programs, exhibitions and lectures. Facilities are located in the Heuser Art Center and the Caterpillar Global Communications Center. Heuser Art Center is a 33,000 sq. ft. facility with fully-equipped studios for ceramics, painting, printmaking and photography and sculpture..

BFA Applications

Applications forms for the Bachelor of Fine Arts program are available for download in pdf format or may be obtained from the Art Department office.

APPLICATION DEADLINES: March 1st and October 1st
The application should be submitted in the Spring semester of your sophomore year or the the Fall semester of your junior year.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. All candidates must be enrolled as a declared art major at the time of application and must have completed the 100 level studio and art history core courses required for the art program prior to submitting application.
(Art 101, 102, 105, 106, 140, 142)
2. An Art GPA of 3.0 and an overall GPA of 2.5 are required for the student to be considered for candidacy.
3. Your signature at the bottom verifies you meet minimum requirements.

SUBMIT: ORIGINAL ART WORK
A total of 12–15 pieces of original art work. Select your best work. Each piece must be labeled with title of work, your name, date, and medium (or media.) A date will be given (usually the Friday following the application deadline) for you to present your work. You are to install the work in one of the designated rooms in Heuser and you must be present to make a short (five minute maximum) presentation about your work and your goals as an artist or designer.
• Submit 2-3 pieces from the design foundation courses, Art 105, 106.
• Submit 2-3 pieces from the drawing foundation courses, Art 101, 102, 230.
• Submit 5-10 pieces from your area(s) of concentration.
• Inventory sheet prepared according to the Guide to Portfolio Preparation.
• Written statement of purpose/direction.

Students who meet minimum qualifications for application to the B.F.A. program are not automatically accepted into the program. Entry into the B.F.A. degree program requires the demonstration of an exceptional portfolio and articulate oral presentation that both reflect a high level of artistic confidence and excellence in the areas of technique, general aesthetics and personal direction. The body of work will be juried by the faculty. A student will receive written notification of acceptance into the B.F.A. degree program. A student, who has not been accepted during an initial submission for the B.F.A. candidacy may reapply one time, based on recommendation of your adviser.
