This is a foundation course that introduces design principles, aesthetic considerations and basic techniques of working as they relate to the creation of three-dimensional art. Course Description&lt;br /&gt;
This is a beginning sculpture course that incorporates the design principles learned in foundation courses with aesthetic and content considerations.  Basic techniques of working, as they relate to the creation of three-dimensional art, will be taught.  The course will involve instruction in, and student investigation of, several methods of additive and reductive manipulation of materials.  The materials used will include, but not be limited to, steel, stone, and wood.&lt;br /&gt;

 <title>ART 214 Beginning Sculpture 2</title>

 <description>Course Description&lt;br /&gt;
This is a beginning sculpture course, which builds on design principles, aesthetic considerations and basic techniques of working as they relate to the creation of three-dimensional art that were introduced in foundations classes.  Specifically, the course will concentrate on casting techniques including pattern making, modeling in wax and clay and transfer of the image to plaster, bronze and aluminum.  Processes will involve cope and drag casting, transfer moldmaking and investment moldmaking, pouring molten non-ferrous metals, and finishing cast metal works through chasing and other surface cleanup, patination and sealing.&lt;br /&gt;
