Nice return to campus of a very talented graphic design alum – Toby Grubb for our April 23rd Visual Voices guest talk. Formerly at Burton Snowboards and currently at Instrument in Portland. Should be a fun ‘catch up’ and entertaining lecture.
The introduction to his talk went something like this:
“Tonight’s Visual Voice guest speaker, Toby Grubb, is a 2003 Bradley University graphic design alum. He was always one of those wonderfully motivated students, involved with all sorts of campus activities and internships, always first through the classroom door. Often bustling with enthusiasm about a current website, or editorial layout, he would frequently wax lyrical about the latest names or trends in the industry…….. quite annoying really!
With over 10 years of design experience and 50+ digital launches under his belt, Toby Grubb serves as a Digital Creative Director at Instrument in Portland, Oregon. He provides insights and guidance to active global brands such as Nike, Burton, Black Diamond, Red Bull and Specialized.
Whether snowboarding in Lake Tahoe, scuba diving off the waters of Mexico, or riding around the country on numerous motorcycling adventures, (one of which recently saw him lose an argument badly with a latte drinking woman in a Mercedes, I believe?) – his enthusiasm for creativity and continual learning appears to be still as strong, if not stronger, now as it was more than a decade ago. Toby’s unique brand of energy and vision fuels his team, which he credits with the quality of his own work. He is constantly creating, building, making…. And occasionally sleeping!
As the latest of our esteemed Visual Voices guest presenters, I am truly delighted to give you TOBY GRUBB…”
